Transcutaneous (through the skin) Electrical Nerve Stimulation, known as TENS, is a non-invasive therapy used to relieve pain. Unlike strong pain medication, TENS therapy does not cause nausea, drowsiness or lead to therapy dependence. The Vitalic Perio-TENS is a high frequency medical device intended for the relief of both acute and chronic pain. and This device may be used to relieve a variety of painful complaints including sciatica, period pain, migraine, nocturnal leg cramps, muscular pain and stiffness.
Ensure the skin is clean and dry before placing the electrode pad. Remove the plastic film (retain for later use after treatment) and apply to the selected area. Switch the device on by pressing the ON/+ button and the function display light will illuminate. By pressing the ON/+ button again, the device begins treatment at the lowest intensity level. The device has 10 intensity levels to allow the selection of appropriate treatment strength. Increase intensity by pressing the ON/+ button. The device will automatically stop and switch off after 20 minutes of treatment. Treatment may be discontinued at any time by pressing -/OFF button repeatedly until the function display light turns off. Remove the electrode from the skin and replace the electrode pad back onto the plastic film.
TENS therapy should be avoided in the following groups (unless first approved by your doctor) :À Pregnant women should avoid using TENS devices in the first trimester of pregnancy.À Those with epilepsy, as applying electrodes to the head or neck areas may induce seizures.À People who are being treated for or have symptoms of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)À People with heart problems or who are fitted with a pacemaker or with another type of electrical or metal implant
